Kahlia is a rising junior undergraduate joining the lab for Summer 2024 through the SROP program. She is interested in biochemistry, drug design, and pharmacology and aims to pursue a PhD in these or a related field after receiving a B.S in Biochemistry. At her home institution she participates in undergraduate research designing virus-like particles where she is involved in DNA replication, protein purification, and characterization. Through joining Dr. Washington’s lab, she hopes to learn new lab techniques and broaden her horizons regarding protein biochemistry, structural biology and biomedical research to prepare her for future endeavors. Outside of lab, she likes to garden, do collages and scrapbooking, and pet any animal she can find.
